1. The summer weekend: hill, zoo, Fundy
Best between June 20 and September 7, when the Magnetic Hill is open every day, the zoo keeps summer hours and Hopewell Rocks stays open into the evening.
| When | What | Why then |
|---|---|---|
| Fri 4 p.m. | Check in, swim | Kids burn off the car ride; under-12s swim with someone 16+ |
| Fri evening | Dinner downtown, tidal bore if it falls in the evening | The market is closed, but the riverfront is not |
| Sat 9 a.m. | The Magnetic Hill | Open daily in summer; $10 per car |
| Sat 9:30 a.m. | Magnetic Hill Zoo, lion talk at 10:30 | Summer hours 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. |
| Sat afternoon | Pool, or Magic Mountain if booked | Magic Mountain sells date-specific tickets |
| Sun 8 a.m. | Check out early or leave bags; drive to Hopewell Rocks | About 48 km; park opens 8 a.m. in high summer |
| Sun midday | Ocean floor walk at low tide | Ticket covers two days if you come back |
2. The show weekend: everything under one roof
Pick a Friday or Saturday show at the Molson Canadian Centre from the what's on list and build the weekend around it. This plan suits couples and friends, and families when the show is all ages.
- Friday
Arrive and settle
Check in from 4 p.m., swim, early night. Adults without kids might try the Thursday-to-Saturday live music in the pub (19+).
- Saturday day
Zoo or downtown
The zoo in the morning, or the Saturday market until 2 p.m. Back to the room by late afternoon.
- Saturday evening
The show
Eat early, leave bags in the room, walk over. Arrive early for security checks.
- Sunday
Slow morning
Coffee in the room, check-out by 11, the Magnetic Hill on the way out in season.
3. The winter weekend: lights and a wave
Built for late November and December, when the zoo runs Wild Lights in the evenings and the Magnetic Hill is closed.
| When | What | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Fri 4 p.m. | Check in, swim | Warm up after the drive |
| Fri 5 p.m. | Wild Lights at the zoo | Doors 5 p.m., last entry 8:30 p.m.; dress warmly |
| Sat 9 a.m. | Moncton Market breakfast | Every Saturday until 2 p.m. |
| Sat late morning | Tidal bore at Bore Park, Resurgo Place if it is cold | Check the City's bore timetable |
| Sat evening | A show at the Molson Canadian Centre or the Capitol Theatre | December has several holiday shows |
| Sun | Check out by 11; Christmas on the Wharf if dates match | Announced for Nov 12 – Dec 5 |
For any of the three
- Breakfast supplies (no room service)
- Swimsuits for everyone
- Concert tickets on your phone
- Layers: Maritime weather changes in an afternoon
- Photo ID for the adult checking in
Adapting the plans
With a baby: drop Hopewell Rocks unless you have a carrier; the stairs are 99 down and 101 up, and the ocean floor is slippery. The ramp near North Beach is the alternative. With a dog: swap the zoo for Centennial Park or Hopewell Rocks, where leashed pets are allowed. Without a car: stay closer to downtown for most of the weekend and use taxis; the hotel is about 11 km from the riverfront.
When you know your dates, send them to our desk and we will check rooms for your plan.
