Animal contact area
Alpacas, fallow deer and goats. Feed from the dispenser costs $1 — a loonie; change at Admissions.
There is a playground, washrooms, and toddler carts to rent at arrival, first come, first served. Hot drinks and snacks come from vending machines inside the Acadian Forest Bistro near the playground. The zoo reminds visitors that you may not see every animal: they can choose to be indoors or in different areas of their habitat depending on the season and time of day.

Wild Lights
From late November to early January, the zoo turns its 40-acre park into what it calls a winter wonderland of hundreds of thousands of lights, with a holiday musical light show. The event dates are November 27–30, December 3–7, 10–14, 17–23 and 26–31, and January 1–2. Doors open at 5 p.m., last entrance is 8:30 p.m., and everyone must leave by 9:30 p.m.
Some animals can be seen in the Ecodome and Imaginarium, and a bonfire runs until 9 p.m., weather permitting. BeaverTails pastries and other hot food are sold at the Acadian Forest Bistro. Wheelchairs and toddler carts are not available during Wild Lights, and dogs are not allowed except trained service dogs. The event is run with the Friends of the Zoo, and the zoo says net profits go to building improvements. On Mondays in the season, seniors 60+ get $2 off.
Zoo bag, day or night
- Loonies for the animal feed dispenser
- Warm layers: most of the zoo is outdoors
- A stroller if you have one — toddler carts are first come, first served and not offered at Wild Lights
- Mittens, hats and a thermos for Wild Lights evenings
- Snacks, since food inside is limited to vending machines on ordinary days
Bringing a dog
Dogs are not allowed inside the zoo, with the exception of trained service dogs; therapy and emotional support animals are not permitted. From May 1 to October 31, there are uncovered outdoor kennels for dogs of visitors, first come, first served, for a maximum of two hours. Never leave a pet in a parked car. See bringing the dog.
