The operator's description opens with "a view from the top awaits". Two features make it different from the Luxury Suite of the same size. One is the private balcony, which no other category lists. The other is the second bathroom, a two-piece off the living room, so a guest on the sofa-bed does not have to walk through the bedroom at night.
Who it suits
Three generations travelling together, where a grandparent sleeps on the sofa-bed and appreciates a bathroom of their own. Couples marking an anniversary. Anyone who wants fresh air on a summer evening without going downstairs.
With small children, think about the balcony. The operator does not describe railings or locks, and we have not inspected the suite. Ask the hotel about balcony door locks if you are travelling with toddlers, and keep the door shut when you are not on it.
Is it worth the upgrade?
We do not publish rates, so we cannot answer in dollars. In terms of space, the Marquis and the Luxury Suite start at the same 795 square feet. You are paying for the balcony, the floor and the second bathroom. If none of those three matters to you, the Luxury Suite gives you the same living room for the evenings.
For balcony evenings
- A light fleece: Moncton evenings cool quickly, even in summer
- A small speaker, used quietly — the house rules ask guests to treat others with respect
- Binoculars for the view toward the ridge
- Nothing to smoke: the hotel, rooms and balconies fall under a 100% smoke-free policy with a $1,000 cleaning fee for a first violation
The group's house rules state the hotel and guest rooms are 100% smoke-free, including cannabis, e-cigarettes and vaping. A first violation brings a $1,000 cleaning fee, immediate eviction and a ban of up to three months. The balcony is not an exception in any wording we have seen.
